Safetytec Lightguard: Infrascan
Cross Matrix Technology in a 1" square enclosure
This is the perfect answer when you need the features of a full sized safety curtain but you have limited space. The Infrascan range of Lightcurtains are designed to be so simple that they are virtually plug and play. Simply attach to the machine with the transmitter facing towards the receiver, plug in the cables to the guards, then apply the 24vdc power supply, and terminate to the machine control. It couldn’t be easier! No Alignment needed!
Installation
Ensure that the Lightcurtain selected is suited to the application. Give consideration to the scan height, the scan range and the line of sight making sure that there are no obstacles or reflective planes in line. Ensure that reaching to the hazard area is not possible when the lightcurtain is active. This may require additional guarding components. For advice, especially where safety requirements, regulations and standards are important, contact Safetytec or an approved agent for advice.
The Infrascan range comes complete with plug in connectors for easy installation. The TX uses only 2 wires within the TX cable for 24Vdc connection. The RX also uses 24Vdc, but has an additional 3 wires within the cable for all other desired switching functions etc. Standard cables are 5m (16ft) or 10m (32ft) lengths. All guards are preset to the desired scan range for ease of installation, but are easily changed as needed using the range setting switches on the TX. (See page 8).
All Infrascan guards are type 4 safety as defined by the standard EN61496-1,
Category SIL3 PLe as defined by ISO13849-1. Type 4 Lightcurtains are suited
to machinery with all risk categories including high risk applications. Such machines include robotic applications, power presses and other high-risk machinery where safety integrity is crucial and legally required.
Finger Guard
Closest operation.
In this case, the lightguard has a very small ODC (14mm) which allows it to be positioned very close to the hazard. (Not closer than 100mm or 4”). Note: distance is subject to stopping time.
This means the lightguard can be a smaller one so long as it is not possible to reach over, under or around the sides of the guard to contact the hazard area.
Hand Guard
Close operation.
In this case, the lightguard has a relatively small ODC (35mm) which allows it to be positioned fairly close to the hazard. Note: Actual distance is subject to stopping time.
Because the lightguard is further away than the 14mm ODC lightguard, it means this lightguard can have a larger ODC (making it faster and less costly). It must still not be possible to reach over, under or around the sides of the guard to contact the hazard area.
